1,157 lbs. of Medication Collected at HC DrugFree’s Site

Volunteers with bins of collected medications

HC DrugFree provided a 2-for-1 event today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Wilde Lake Village Center parking lot. At the twice-a-year drive-thru Medication and Sharps Collection, volunteers collected 1,157 lbs. of medication (40 bins), plus 21 bins of sharps. At the same time, adults were invited to experience the Hidden In Plain Sight Experience by touring a trailer that contained a simulated bedroom and bathroom to show where drugs may be hidden in plain sight. The tour also included information on other potential signs of drug use. Both events were free and open to the public. The medication was guarded and transported by the Howard County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Thank you to our adult, youth, and medically-trained adult volunteers, special guests, and all our partners who made this another successful event. The next event will be in approximately six months on the DEA’s next national Drug Take Back Day.
