HC DrugFree Programs


HC DrugFree offers educational programs for parents and teens (and other community members who work with teens) from October to February at Howard County Public Schools and Howard County Public Library branches. While programs are planned with parents in mind, high school students are encouraged to attend (some teachers offer students extra credit for attending).

"HAZE"
The Perils of the College Drinking Culture in America

Featuring Nationally Recognized Guest Speaker: Michael Lanahan
On Sept 16, 2004 Gordie, an 18 year old freshman at the University of Colorado, pledged a fraternity. The next morning, he was found dead - a victim of an irresponsible hazing ritual involving alcohol.  This Howard County  debut  of the the Gordie Foundation DVD "HAZE"  will shed light on the severity of college binge drinking, destructive drinking games and hazing, and will also include a presentation and discussion led by Gordie's step-dad.  This is a must see presentation for teens and parents.
