Overdose Response Training

HC DrugFree Outreach Assistant Lindsey Mazer and Executive Director Joan Webb Scornaienchi joined Roe Rodgers-Bonaccorsy, Director of the Bureau of Behavioral Health at the Howard County Health Department, and Bethany DiPaula of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy for the inaugural overdose response training course. Participants practiced rescue breathing with Rescue Randy, pictured to the right in his "My Mother and I Are Tobacco-Free" t-shirt, and learned how to administer naloxone, a prescription nasal spray that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose by restoring breathing capabilities.
