Medical marijuana company gets approval to build in Cumberland

Peak Harvest Health, a Maryland-based medical marijuana manufacturing company, on Monday announced it secured approval for plans to operate a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Cumberland.

The Natalie M. LaParade Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission is authorized under state law to award 15 licenses to eligible medical cannabis growers. Peak has filed an application to be a grower. 

The cutoff for submitting a growing application is Friday, and a decision on which companies will be awarded a license is expected in December or January.
